How much are old He-Man toys worth?
Masters of the Universe was made in enormous numbers, so what separates an ordinary collection from a valuable one is detail: which figures, which versions, and how much survived. The early releases and their variants have their own following, but it's often the late figures, made in far smaller numbers as the range wound down, that surprise people: Scare Glow, King Randor and the Sorceress among them. Anything still carded or sealed is in another league again. A complete Castle Grayskull is a good find too; a bare one is common enough that it won't add much on its own, and a kept box helps more than people think.
Condition-wise, He-Man figures wear in predictable ways: perished leg bands, worn paint, missing weapons and armour. None of that stops a collection being worth selling. It's the normal state of toys that were loved. Keep an eye out for the mini-comics that came with the figures, too; they're collectable on their own. My figures are floppy and the waists don't spring back. Still worth selling?
Yes. The rubber band inside the waist perishes with age on almost every figure that got played with. It's expected, it's repairable, and it doesn't stop me buying them.
Castle Grayskull is missing bits. Is it still worth anything?
A bare castle on its own isn't worth much, simply because so many survived without their parts. The value sits in the condition and the accessories: the flag, throne, weapons rack and the smaller pieces, and in castles that kept them all. Incomplete playsets are still wanted, both whole and for parts.
Should I dig out the little comics that came with the figures?
Yes, please. The mini-comics are collected in their own right and add to an offer. Check the bottom of the box; that's where they usually end up.
